I run because it’s good for me…….also because I like to eat…..and drink…..a lot

Holy F Bomb windy again……I don’t know what is going on around here but I don’t like it! It finally stopped raining so I got out ASAP for my run as it looked like it might start pouring again any minute.

I popped a power ball


I bundled up and got outside. I could barley pull my front door shut the wind was so strong. 51 km/per hour (32 miles) winds……When is this madness going to stop!!

wiawSince my food tends to be the same most days I don’t want to bore you to tears posting the same food every week……


I thought posting pictures of new or actually interesting dishes would be a better way to go about this…. Just go with it….mmmm…..k?

I was in the Bulk Barn the other day, well two Bulk Barns actually……. I managed to get kicked out of the first one and had to go to another one that was out of my way. (Don’t ask) I was picking up White Chocolate and Sprinkles for the cake pops but somehow managed to come out with tons of spices and a bunch of other things. I picked up a pulled pork spice (probably full of salt but whatever it smelled great!) I thought it would be good for a pulled Chicken.

I chopped up some onions and garlic, and threw them in the slow cooker with some of my home made Tomato sauce preserves (from last year) the pulled pork spice a dehydrated pepper and let it cook away.

Made 32 L last fall



Once it was cooked I took out the chicken and shredded it with two forks and threw it back in until all the liquid cooked down.

Yum…..Served with Grilled Broccoli for a work dinner this week.

Meal prep Monday and a 10 K run

After my epic fail 12k run the other day I decided I needed a bit of an edge for my 10k today.


I had some C4 pre work out before I set out. Not sure if it was psychological or not but this run was a million times better. I had a ton of errands to do after the run so I drove to a mini mall complex and started my run from there.

Pre-Run. Just getting set up with the new Sony cordless MP3 player before I get out of the car to start my run!


The first 5 k was hilly and quite windy but I still felt pretty strong. I took my time warming up. I stuck to 6 min km’s for the first 3 k. Picked up the pace a bit for km 4 and 5, trucking through the wind.

At 5k in I turned a corner and ran out of the winds path and into the sun. That last half of the run was great! Averaged 5:35km pace the rest of the run! Not bad for a training run!

This run makes me feel that I might have a chance to win my bets!

Finished up all my errands and headed home to meal prep for the rest of the week. After a couple hours we are set up for the rest of the week with healthy meals. Here are a few of the highlights!


Grilled steak with roasted sweet potatoes, sautéed onions, peppers and mushrooms and a side of steamed spinach (Shane’s dinners)
Mixed greens with roasted sweet potato, chick peas, alfalfa sprouts, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts, cherry tomatoes and nutritional yeast (my lunches)

My lunch salads looked so good I just had to have one for dinner as well!


I do realize it is odd that I eat my salads out of mixing bowls…..It is just part of who I am.

Food prep, a shoulder workout, a little mussel and it’s still friggin freezing here…….

Since I work 12 hour days I eat all my meals at work on work days. I start at 6 am, so that means up at 4:10am. This makes for A LOT of meal prep. When it comes to my work meals I stay super basic and boring. Mostly eating the same thing every day. I would rather have my tasty healthy foods for my days off. It works for me. For Shane I get more creative with his work meals, because he wouldn’t eat so healthy if he was eating grilled chicken and broccoli every day like I do.

He is more likely to get a coconut chicken curry or a quinoa salad. Not the tasteless stuff I eat.

After my 6-6 yesterday I went to my work gym for a quick 40 minute weight workout. I mostly worked my shoulders.


I love a good shoulder work out. I am really trying to keep up my weight training up when all I really want to do is run right now.

It’s almost a mussel……

Summer is never coming to Toronto. It sure feels that way …….sigh
