Yesterday (Sunday May 10) was the Sporting Life 10K

I know! It seams like we have been talking (shit) about this race forever!! I mentioned that my big mouth had gotten me into a bit of a situation with this run. I seam to have put myself out their with some pretty big projections about beating a couple of my co-workers that were running as well! It was all in good fun overall I didn’t really care where I finished as long as I wasn’t completely left behind!

That means only 3 sleeps till the Sporting Life 10K run! There are 6 of us from work running so hopefully the weather doesn’t stays nice! Today is going to be 23C(73F) and tomorrow will be 29C(84F)!!!!!!!

Runners Logic: I’m Tired……I Think I’ll Go For A Run

After work today I was exhausted! Even though I only worked 6-2 I was just beyond tired, but I had already planned on doing a 10k when I got home.


I changed out of my uniform at work and into my running clothes so that I didn’t even have to go into the house except to drop off my bag. Because if I sat down even for a minute that run wasn’t happening!

TGIS…..Just Kidding, I work this weekend!


I always get caught up in everyone’s TGIF posts on Facebook and Instagram….but every other weekend I get a reality check when I realise I have to work Saturday and Sunday….booo…..hissss…..fml and all that other shit….Although this weekend isn’t so bad because I took Sunday off for the 10K run…..Just have to get through today!

Usually at work I run around all day like a lunatic but Friday I literally sat on my caboose all day……..

wiawSince my food tends to be the same most days I don’t want to bore you to tears posting the same food every week……


I thought posting pictures of new or actually interesting dishes would be a better way to go about this…. Just go with it….mmmm…..k?

I was in the Bulk Barn the other day, well two Bulk Barns actually……. I managed to get kicked out of the first one and had to go to another one that was out of my way. (Don’t ask) I was picking up White Chocolate and Sprinkles for the cake pops but somehow managed to come out with tons of spices and a bunch of other things. I picked up a pulled pork spice (probably full of salt but whatever it smelled great!) I thought it would be good for a pulled Chicken.

I chopped up some onions and garlic, and threw them in the slow cooker with some of my home made Tomato sauce preserves (from last year) the pulled pork spice a dehydrated pepper and let it cook away.

Made 32 L last fall



Once it was cooked I took out the chicken and shredded it with two forks and threw it back in until all the liquid cooked down.

Yum…..Served with Grilled Broccoli for a work dinner this week.

Meal prep Monday and a 10 K run

After my epic fail 12k run the other day I decided I needed a bit of an edge for my 10k today.


I had some C4 pre work out before I set out. Not sure if it was psychological or not but this run was a million times better. I had a ton of errands to do after the run so I drove to a mini mall complex and started my run from there.

Pre-Run. Just getting set up with the new Sony cordless MP3 player before I get out of the car to start my run!


The first 5 k was hilly and quite windy but I still felt pretty strong. I took my time warming up. I stuck to 6 min km’s for the first 3 k. Picked up the pace a bit for km 4 and 5, trucking through the wind.

At 5k in I turned a corner and ran out of the winds path and into the sun. That last half of the run was great! Averaged 5:35km pace the rest of the run! Not bad for a training run!

This run makes me feel that I might have a chance to win my bets!

Finished up all my errands and headed home to meal prep for the rest of the week. After a couple hours we are set up for the rest of the week with healthy meals. Here are a few of the highlights!


Grilled steak with roasted sweet potatoes, sautéed onions, peppers and mushrooms and a side of steamed spinach (Shane’s dinners)
Mixed greens with roasted sweet potato, chick peas, alfalfa sprouts, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts, cherry tomatoes and nutritional yeast (my lunches)

My lunch salads looked so good I just had to have one for dinner as well!


I do realize it is odd that I eat my salads out of mixing bowls…..It is just part of who I am.

12 KM run, Easter Cupcakes and Cream Eggs oh my…….

Up at 7 this morning with a million things to do on my day off…..Ugg….TGIF tomorrow……NOT


After Breakfast and Coffee, I started making Cupcakes for tomorrow (More on that later)…..

I was holding out for it to warm out as promised by the Weather Channel…….


18C / 65F my ass…….I finally just said screw it and left for my 12K run


Here we go! It was just one of those terrible run days. I wasn’t feeling it at all! My legs felt heavy and nothing was going smoothly.


I picked a new route that I haven’t went before just to mix it up a bit……Big mistake…..The hills I knew about, fine, but it was all the other obstacles that were the problem. From no sidewalks for the majority of the run (which I don’t mind if there is at least a gravel shoulder to run on), to major spring construction, not to mention the insane wind that was trying to carry me away! But then tragedy struck…… music died at KM 8!


Now most runners will know that this is not ok. I almost had a break down. But I was able to push through and finish the run!


12 KM in 1 HR and 12 MIN…Not my best day…..but it is what it is!

I had a ton of meal prep to get done for the weekend as well as 3 Dozen Cupcakes that a couple of girls from work had ordered from me for Easter. I grabbed all the supplies at the Bulk Barn except for the little licorice sticks I use for the handles, and the only place that has these is Wal-Mart. While at Wal-Mart I got lost and happened to wander through the Easter Candy Isles…… oops…..I just happened to stumble across these…..


ummm…..You have to be kidding me!

excitedI love Cadbury Cream Eggs!!!! So I did what any rational person would do…..I bought 4 packs……

When all is said and done it was a productive and healthy day overall.

Dinner was a Turkey Burger with no bun and some Green Beans and some Plantain I cooked up (in coconut oil) before they went bad……Delish
