I am a country girl at heart, growing up in rural Ontario with 2 little brothers. I have pretty much lived all over Ontario, but have now settled just west of Toronto.( I commute the 30 minutes into the city everyday for work). I never thought I could live in the city, but I love it now!
I used to be quite overweight See my Before and After HERE. So I have worked very hard the last few years to make sure I live a healthy lifestyle. I read anything I can get my hands on about health, food and fitness. All together I have managed to loose upwards of 65 pounds and keep it off. I am not saying it is easy, it never will be for me. But the pay off is worth the effort. Of course I don’t eat 100%clean all the time, but I do my best to make conscious decisions when it comes to food. I am the only one who can control this, and by making excuses I am only fooling myself. Same thing goes with working out. If I don’t do it I am the only one who will suffer. There was a time when I was close to 200Lbs and couldn’t even admit to myself I needed to get a grip, and was constantly making excuses for myself.
There was a point when I had to draw the line. Seeing pictures like this
I finally had to admit TO MYSELF that this wasn’t right and was just going to get worse.
I find that people have a very unhealthy view when it comes to food and dieting, I sure did. People always use the term “it’s a lifestyle” but I am not sure they really get what that means. I am not a nutritionist, just someone who has had A LOT of trial and error in this department. When we look at food as either “good” or “bad” we set ourselves up for failure. I used to do this too. But all it caused me to do was yo-yo diet.
I get it. We all have busy lives, with kids, jobs and spouses. But once you commit yourself to taking control its all up to you, there is always choices to be made. I had to start making the hard ones sometimes.
I have a very demanding job, that requires me to work a lot of hours. Shift work can be hard. Especially when you are trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I have been in my current relationship all together for over 3 years and we are hoping to start a family very soon. So keeping up my nutrition and fitness is even more important then it has ever been.
Reading blogs has been a huge part of my healthy lifestyle the past couple years. I love seeing what other people are doing daily. Love the workout, recipe ideas and overall the community that is involved. I hope I can provide the same support, motivation and ideas to others that blogs have given me, while continuing to learn from this great blogging community!
People think I am loud and probably obnoxious. I don’t mind because I am. I have been like this my whole life…..not to mention bossy and stubborn. I am abrasive and I swear A LOT….true story. But I mean well and have a good heart.
Thanks for reading!
