Nike race tomorrow and HIRT Workout

This was a busy week!


Tuesday I didn’t do overtime so I could get a last 15k run in before the Nike run this weekend! It was a good run and I am hoping to do a sub 1:20 15k. I can not even explain how excited I am for this run!!!!

Wednesday I did a great HIRT (High Intensity Resistance Training) Workout

Basically I did three 10 minute sets of resistance training with little to no break in between sets……..

Set 1

  • 10 push-ups
  • 10 squats
  • 10 tuck jumps
  • 10 medicine ball slams

Set 2

  • 10 pull-ups (I did modified pull ups as I obviously am not at the pull up point yet)
  • 10 deadlifts (75lbs)
  • 10 lunges (each leg)
  • 10 push presses (50lbs)

Set 3did

  • 10 jump lunges
  • 10 kettle bell swings
  • 15 floor crunches
  • 10 bicep curls (15 lb dumbbells)

So you start a set and just keep going through it till 10 minutes is up then switch sets.

After I finished the 30 minutes I was dripping sweat……..I did a few sets of plank variations and worked on my bench press goal. I am up to 75lb x 5 on the bench press…….I will get there…..aiming to get up to 1 plate either side (135lbs) x 5…….

Thursday I was a little sore from the HIRT workout……Nothing serious……..


After work I set out and did a 5k. When I left for the run I wasn’t really thinking about time but I felt pretty good by the time I hit 1k in I decided to pick up the pace.

I ended up with a 5:14min/km average pace (8:25mile) Not too bad…..

Friday I picked up another 6-2 Overtime shift. I was on the fence about running…I usually take 2 days off before a race but I kinda wanted to get a slow 5k in just to keep loose……..


By the time I got home it was pouring rain……made the decision to take the day off that much more appealing……so that is what I did……

By the time Shane got home my ass had pretty much made a permanent dent in the couch! It was going to take wild horses to get me moving……I was lazy as long as possible but finally I had to go get ready for the Stag and Doe…….


I wanted to wear a dress…..I always wear dresses……but I didn’t want to look overdressed!

Ended up being a good choice to stick to jeans!


It was so packed and there were tons of prizes but I think maybe I am too old for these types of events… I was the DD so I just ate my body weight in buffet food and waited for Shane to be ready to leave!

I should have wore my hair up it! It looked ok before we left and as soon as I stepped out  into the humid/rainy night frizz set in immediately……..I know better….ugh…..


Because I am an complete moron who apparently can’t read emails properly I missed the fact that there is no race day packet pick up! SOB! So now I have to make the trek to Downtown Toronto to pick it up…..


The Honda Indy Toronto is on today down there…

I am hoping to go right there and back as fast as possible….no doddling……..because I want to get to the Veggie food fest!
